Elk Hunting NW Montana

There is nothing quite like elk hunting in NW Montana. One could say that it is unique compared to other western elk hunting. One reason is that this is Mountain Timber Country offering excellent elk habitat and elk habitat security. Another reason is that it has excellent elk genetics. Where on National Forest Land hunting can you find 400+ B&C Bulls? A bull that was recently found dead in this area, scored in the 440’s B&C. Still another reason is the VERY minimal to non-existent off-road hunting pressure which allows the working of bulls without being disturbed by other hunters. Yet another Very positive thing for hunting this area is that it is a general license area for elk and deer. What does this mean for you as a hunter? For one it means that you do not apply for a limited area permit, your Elk or Elk/Deer license is good in Western Montana and is valid for the entire six- week Archery season and the five- week Rifle season.
So, this is what we at Silver Bow Outfitters offer you as a hunter.

#1. We have an area of over 380,000 acres on which we are the only licensed outfitter. This area has every type of terrain and access from the Cabinet Mtn. Wilderness and the vast roadless area surrounding it to open road areas where most roads are gated offering area access at all elevation levels. Our terrain extends from extremely rugged areas to large river bottoms and more gentle slopes.

2. We do not over hunt this area! During the six- week Archery season we only hunt three of the six weeks, what we consider the prime time! We have a maximum of eight clients per hunt for the Archery and Rifle seasons.

3. Our experienced guides know the area and the elk and deer use of the habitat and all are excellent callers & archers.

4. For Archery season our hunts are ranch based with the use of back country camps, spike camps and overnight back packing. Our Rifle season hunts are ranch based with the use of spike camps. MOBILITY is of the upmost importance, as elk are through-out our entire hunting area. Elk, Muley’s, Whitetails, Moose and Black Bear are found intermixed from the river bottoms to as high as we hunt. Elevations we hunt at range from 2,800’ to 6,500’. Our ranch is off grid with modern conveniences and is located within our vast roadless area. One literally walks out the door to go hunting.

5. There are no private ranches for our elk and deer to winter on. Our elk and deer winter in the mountains giving all hunters access no matter which hunting season you chose or the weather.

#6. We offer top of the line camps, clean, comfortable lodging, excellent & abundant home cooked meals/snacks & deserts, well broke saddle & pack stock with quality saddles, tack, rifle and bow scabbards.
